1. Medical Advice -- Licensed Podiatrist vs. Grocery Store Clerk -- A custom-fit orthotic is prescribed by a licensed podiatrist. Based on the molds of your feet and your responses to the questionnaire, we fabricate a shoe insole to correct or relieve your specific foot problems. 2. Materials – Solid Support vs. Foam Padding -- Depending on your condition and the support you require, a licensed podiatrist will prescribe a rigid material to correct the problem. Fiberglass and graphite are the most commonly used materials in a custom orthotic. Obviously, a rigid material like that could be uncomfortable if it wasn’t molded to the exact contours of your foot. This is why we get an impression mold of both of your feet before we make your orthotics. That rigid material is then covered with foam padding for maximum comfort.
